This faux knife was a project for my design principles course. I created a silhouette that would be cut out of acrylic, then painted to mimic an actual piece of steal. I lasercut a cardboard silhouette to have a base to shape my handle. I used pink foam that I would sand down and mold until I had a shape that would fit well in the hand. I painted the handles a matte black and the acrylic piece got a silver coat, then a blackwash. I also added teeth on the back of the blade, which were relatively functional on softer materials. My experience with actual knives proved useful, as my model was ergonomic and utilized a utilitarian upswept blade. This piece was used in an end-of-year design show at my university. I used rhino to design the silhouette of my blade.
